Dashboard

Overview

Overview

Providence Health serves millions of patients, but its digital care experience was fragmented across marketing sites, third-party tools, and manual workflows. I led the UX strategy and design of Providence’s first centralized patient dashboard, creating a first-party digital front door for care while working within strict clinical, legal, and platform constraints.

The Problem

The Problem

Patients struggled to complete basic tasks like viewing test results, messaging providers, managing appointments, and understanding bills, and many had to call support to get help. These workflows were scattered across systems and varied by region, which increased patient anxiety and operational burden. Leadership needed a compliant, scalable dashboard that could unify these experiences and integrate with Epic and MyChart.

Role & Responsibilities

Role & Responsibilities

As Lead UX Designer, I owned the dashboard vision, UX strategy, information architecture, and interaction design from concept through launch. I partnered closely with clinical, engineering, and vendor teams to align patient needs with regulatory and platform constraints. When stakeholders pushed for an all-in-one dashboard, I advocated for a simpler, more user-friendly dashboard, focusing on the information and actions patients needed most rather than overwhelming them with dense data and visual clutter.

Results

Results

The dashboard launched as Providence’s primary digital entry point, consolidating fragmented workflows into a single trusted experience. Patients could complete common tasks independently, which reduced reliance on call centers, chat support, and in-person assistance. It also standardized the patient entry experience across regions and became the UX foundation that later expanded into billing, mobile, and virtual care.
